We decided to skip the June update as there wasn't much info to put in. As all of you should be aware, May seen the deployment of the new forum software, which allowed us to put in place a responsive theme and a few other additions to the forum functionality. Hopefully everyone is enjoying the responsive theme, and thank you to everyone for all of your feedback.
The last month or so seen a dramatic decline in members attending events and forum activity. While we want to keep our laid back atmosphere, and don't expect people to be actively posting on the forums, we ask that you regularly check our events and let us know if can make them or not. The Event Calendar was introduced for this purpose to allow those who are not big on visiting or browsing forums, to have a dedicated section that is quick to get to and easy to use to be able to do this. We have had to either change our plans and cancel events because of the lack of participation or not knowing who is coming and who is not. If anyone has suggestions that will help improve this, please PM Steggles, Tr1gg22, Madbrood or Rocketman to let them know.
To keep the forums and the club manageable, we also keep track of member activity and who is inactive. A reminder to everyone that inactive members will be removed from the squad. This does not mean you are not welcome within the squad and you are always welcome to reapply if or when you decide you want to come back. Member activity is based on the replies (not attendance) we get to our events we hold. After 3 events in a row that you have not replied to, you will be flagged in a report that our Admin, Event Coordinator and moderators have access to. If you miss replying to 5 events in a row, and you are not on leave, you will be considered inactive and will be removed from the squad. We have the ability for members to submit a 'Leave of Absence' via the User Control Panel. If work, school or general life stuff will prevent you from being able to submit your attendance to our events for an extended period of time, please submit your LOA here. This will let everyone know that you are not available and will automatically exclude your name from the above report.
Thank you to everyone who put forward donations this month. It came at the right time! The web hosting has now been paid for another 12 months.
Windy has put together a syllabus for those of you who would like to participate and improve your flying skills. The purpose of this is to provide training to everyone in the Squad that wants it, enable them to fly better and operate all our aircraft types to a set standard, with others, in consistent effective manner and to train you in a similar manner to the RAF and the USAF flying training schools. We will use techniques from both organizations and give you an idea of what military training is like. If you would like to get a good handle on your flying skills and earn the squadron wings ribbon then go check it out here.
The helo qualification has also been put together. See here for more info! The medal for this is currently being created.
No big changes here. For those of you having trouble finding the server, as mentioned in a response to what server is ours - "Look for the longest server name on the list: DynamicCaucasusFullConflictAir+GroundBaseCap24/7Fiber16AGR" (thanks griffy!)
Steggles should be receiving the EU server soon from Wrighty. Rocketman has been kind enough to offer to host this server for 16AGR. Once it reaches his place, we will finally have our 2nd server back up and running! A big thank you to Rocketman for this and for allowing the squad to run a server using his connection.
The Order of Merit medal is to be considered a prestigious award given out by Steggles and Tr1gg22. It is our way to be able to show the member it is awarded to, that their contribution to the 16th AGR has improved the squad as a whole and is greatly appreciated.
It has been decided to award the Order of Merit to Rocketman. The last few months has seen Rocketman step up and do a lot of work for the squad. Rocketman volunteered for our Event Coordinator role, which he has slotted into very well and has gone far beyond what was asked of him to produce quality events for the enjoyment of everyone within the squad. He recently got put onto our Moderators team as well, showing a willingness to do even more for the squad behind the scenes and help Trigg, Madbrood and Steggles in keeping the forums free from SPAM and keeping them in an orderly manner.
Thank you Rocketman!
11 June- Hidden Anvil
In this mission NATO forces were tasked with eliminating the last of the insurgent leadership, which was hiding in South Ossetia. This objective was successfully achieved. Nitro flight was able to successfully repel three waves of Red CAP. Hawg flight responded to a troops in contact call and successfully defended them, while Shark flight escorted a SF squad from behind enemy line with crucial intel. Viggen flight was able to successfully destroy the target, but was lost due to enemy forces. Before Harpoon flight was lost they reported a large enemy concentration, which HAWG flight was able to confirm.
18 June- Intra-squad Match
This mission was a replay of the Blue Fang mission we flew against the 99th. Everyone split up among the two sides, trying to keep things even. During first contact Blue was able to win the CAP fight, and destroyed several Red helicopters. Blue side was able to capture the Central CP, but a flanking attack from Red was able to re-capture it back. Throughout Blue was able to maintain air superiority throughout the match, giving them solid command of the match. Blue side was able to win by a comfortable margin, in a well fought and fun match.
25 June- Operation Vendetta
For this event the 16th AGR teamed up with the TAW squad for a PVE match. After the initial briefing our members were split up among the flights. Things went well at the start, but server issues required an early end to the mission. By all accounts it was a fun and challenging match. We will attempt to re-engage them for another match, preferably on our sever.
